Herzick joins Virginia

VIRGINIA Football Club has appointed former Gawler Central premiership coach Damien Herzick to take charge of its A grade for the 2018 Adelaide Plains Football League season.

Herzick guided the Tigers to the Barossa, Light & Gawler Football Association premiership in 2014, and losing grand finals in 2013, ’15 and ’16.
Rams president Julie Platt said she was pleased with the appointment.

“We had 10 senior coaches apply for the position this year, we interviewed them with a panel,” she said.

“Obviously, we see Damien as the next step for the club’s future.

“It was a unanimous decision, all the coaching has been handed straight over to him.
“He’s started interviewing players already.

“We’re very pleased to have him on board.”

Virginia made the finals in 2017, but was thrashed by Balaklava in the first semi-final.
