Gawler Historic Building: Railway/Family Hotel
As the name suggests, the Railway Family Hotel's history dates back to the completion of the Adelaide to Gawler railway linme and the construction of the Gawler Railway Station in 1857.
The hotel was built in that year by Edward Martin and the first licence granted to William Bassett, who owned much of the land in Gawler West, which was originally laid out as Bassett Town subdivision.
