Kapunda pool ready for summer

THE water is warmer and clearer at the Kapunda Swimming Pool this summer season, due to recent maintenance works.

Kapunda Swimming Pool management committee member Greg Mickan said the pool’s filtration and chlorination system has had an overhaul, making the water quality clear, clean and ideal for swimming.

The grounds have been manicured by hard-working volunteers, and the solar water heating equipment has also been modified, meaning the water temperature will be warmer this season than in previous

“The KSP management gratefully acknowledges the financial support of Light Regional Council to help meet the day-to-day running costs of the pool,” Mr Mickan said.

“This is an important community facility, one which requires a significant financial commitment to keep operational.

“Without the support of council, it would not continue to remain open.

“The Kapunda Swimming Pool is managed by a committee of volunteers who do their best to ensure that the pool is a safe and enjoyable recreation place for all to visit.”

Management is now keen to install a new solar water heating system to enable a constant 24-degree temperature, and is looking to raise $20,000 to fund it.

The project has been submitted as part of the Fund My Neighbourhood grant scheme, which is open for public voting until November 20.
