Lemke takes positive step

FORMER Gawler Central netballer Chelsea Lemke has taken another step in her netball career, joining the Adelaide Thunderbirds’ training partners.

Lemke previously played for the Queensland Firebirds in the ANZ Championship, and made her debut in May 2016.

She recently had a heartbreaking end to the Nine News Netball Cup season, rupturing an anterior cruciate ligament in the grand final, playing for Contax against Matrics, in September.

Despite the injury, Thunderbirds’ head coach Dan Ryan said the club will back her to recovery from the setback.

“It was heartbreaking to see her go down, she was returning to some terrific form after several injuries over the past 12 months,” he said.

“But these things happen in elite sport, and we will be supporting her in her recovery every step of the way.”

The Thunderbirds’ pre-season starts in November, before the Suncorp Super Netball season gets under way in April.
