Oh...the rates review... What an unbalanced report....!!! Now, you would think that this Gawler council would include Playford in their council comparisons as geographically, they are very similar, both seemingly Gawler railway/HWY TOD's, similar residential outcomes, etc...Now, the council explains their reasoning for selecting their comparisons...fair enough...what relation does Prospect have to Gawler? They are not broke for starters, premium inner city suburb vs the Adelaide Metro outskirts(of which Ye Gawlertown isn't officially in it-they are just outside of metro adelaide in many instances, so everything takes longer to be delivered and is more expensive on those aspects alone...from transit time, groceries, business consumables/supplies, council rates, etc...)... In another graph relating commercial $ vs residential $, Playford gets the BIIIIGGGG mention here...What is the implication by the Gawler council here??? Are they implying that Playford is commercially more expensive??? Remember look up the graph(Gawler council website) and you will soon realise that Playford simply has a vibrant commercial sector, much larger than that of Gawler. So...Councillors... Why not include Playford in the rest of the comparisons ??? Seems to have been good enough in this instance... THE PEOPLE OF GAWLER WOULD LIKE TO KNOW EXACTLY WHAT VALUE IS 10KM UP THE ROAD IN PLAYFORD TO MAKE A BALANCED ASSESSMENT OF WHAT THEY ARE GETTING FOR THEIR RATES $$$. If denied the information by this council, they will go out, get the information and have it widely published...simple! :) Again,IMO this is our current council which has just been pulled over the hot coals by the LGA Ombudsman for the lack of transperency / questionable governance.
