Re Editorial 25th January

Mr Zorich is rightly concerned about possible commercial rate rise withing the Council area. This is only half the story, on page 15 of the Rating Review Discussion Paper they are proposing an increase rate between 15% to 60% loading for Residential and Primary production properties. Wait and see if any Councelor will oppose it.
We all know what public consultation amount to, once they make their mind.

GFC...love it!!(Gawler FC....that is!!)... This is a simple documentation of the "cause and effect" of poor LG. The problem starts with elected members(all a disgusting minority BTW...).

It is just another reason, as a business, to pull out of Gawler and take root in Roseworthy (LRC, local govt...)..or head for Playford...Thank you state Govt for the Gawler Bypass!!:) What I find disgusting is that our newly voted in deputy mayor...Hughsey...has only just started asking questions about the effect Roseworthy will have on Gawler!!!. Well, all I can say is that he is 4 years too late in that one...LRC completed their studies back then. Inter-Council cooperation should have occurred back then. Why didn't it happen???

Once again the Council has come up with a way to drive business out of Gawler. Not one Mayor or Council has ever looked at the big picture and how decisions would affect the town in 5/10/20 years. The Coles complex was a debacle, then the BigW complex, then the Target complex - all very good first admissions, but all cut down by the Council, only to have the Council then say, oh but we will now have more shops in the Target complex and we'll let the Old Spot build more shops, and how about more at the Racecourse. All little bits and pieces all over the place - hence why people use the bypass and go to Elizabeth or Munno Para, as well as the fact that there is NOWHERE to park in Gawler. And yes Andrew - all the Councils should have got together and discussed the infrastructure required once Freeling built up and Roseworthy built up - but that would be logical, something Council members are incapable of once they get in there.
