Road toll rises

A FIFTH person has died on Barossa roads this year, after an elderly woman who drove her car into a Tanunda supermarket building passed away from the injuries she sustained.

The 93-year-old was taken to the Lyell McEwin Hospital with head injuries after accidentally driving her Ford sedan into the corner of the Murray Street business at around 10.30am on Wednesday, February 8.

Her injuries were, initially, suspected as not being life-threatening, but the woman sadly passed away in hospital last fortnight.

Major Crash is investigating the circumstances which led to the collision.
