ANGASTON put on a dominant display on Saturday with a 33-point win over Barossa District in its Barossa Light & Gawler Football Association A-grade matchup.

Both sides came out of the rooms looking for a fight, with the opening quarter being very physical even by footy standards.
After the initial tussle, the battle swung in favour of Angaston with Steven Summerton slotting the first goal of the game after a beautiful midfield delivery.
Barossa’s Leigh Ryswyk was able to strike back quickly, kicking a narrow and accurate shot against the wind, and with the Dogs’ kicking efficiency at a good level, Jack Carpenter was able to scoop up the footy and tumble it between the big sticks for another major.
During the second quarter, the battle continued to rage across the midfield as both sides desperately tried to enter their half of the field before Panther Ryder Eberhard managed to break the deadlock.
However, Ryswyk was back again to light up the scoreboard by putting on a burst of speed and leading out from deep within the forward lines to take a mark and kick the goal.
Using this momentum, Barossa quickly muscled the footy out of the midfield to again put the ball into the hands of Ryswyk, who kicked his third.

After what must’ve been some stern words at half-time, the Panthers fired on all cylinders as they refused to accept the early dominance of the Dogs.
Scott Lewis snagged his first with a quick stab from thirty out, before teammates Andrew Pech and Thomas Jackaman provided a quick succession of majors to put their team in front.
Although Barossa kept its work-rate high and continued to try and force the ball forward, the Panthers only conceded a single point for the entire quarter.
Eberhard fired up again to kick two consecutive goals, which inspired Matthew Blenkiron to follow suit and also kick two of his own. The tide had now turned and the Dogs were at a 38-point deficit.
The final quarter began with an arm wrestle as the ball zipped around the midfield, with neither side gaining an advantage, but Eberhard was having a day out and quickly demonstrated his skills once again by dodging and weaving through his defenders to gain another major score.
Ryswyk countered this with another beautiful set-shot after receiving an accurate delivery from the midfield, but unfortunately for Barossa, Eberhard again returned the favour with his fifth and final goal of the game.
Barossa retained control for the remainder of the quarter, with Darren Shillabeer kicking two penetrating goals from fifty out and Nathan Duncan positioning himself well to snag one of his own, but it was in vain as the Dogs went down 8.8 (56) to 12.17 (89).
The result sees Angaston claim top spot on the ladder with an undefeated three wins, one draw, one forfeit (Freeling), one point ahead of the two undefeated Gawler sides.
