TOSers notch first victory
1 min read

TRINITY Old Scholars have finally broken through for their first win of the Adelaide Footy League division five season, belting Rosewater by 61 points on Saturday.

The TOSers came into the game sitting bottom of the ladder and had scored the least amount of points in the competition, but blew their opponents away early.

Alex Cotter returned to form with a bag of five goals, while Jamie Forwood booted four.

Matt Drewett was terrific with three goals, while Jace O’Hara and Jordan Smith were also handy.

Trinity coach Stephen Couzner admitted the win had brought some “relief” to the club after a tough start.

“We played really well, it was pleasing,” he said.

“We’d been working on a few things.”

Due to Trinity College’s first 18 playing on Waldeck Oval, the TOSers were forced to use the neighbouring smaller oval and Couzner said it was a different experience.

Regardless, he said it was good to be back at home following three away games.

“It was a good day, even though we played there,” he said.

“It was good to see a lot of Trinity people there.”

Couzner praised the work of some of his senior players for their role in the victory.

“Jace O’Hara was good, as was Jimmy Forwood; those two (showed) leadership,” he said.

“Big (Glen) Chamberlain has been my best player for four weeks.”

Trinity will now host Smithfield this Saturday as it looks to win successive games.

“They’ll be a class up from Rosewater, so I’m expecting we’ll have to play at our best to compete,” Couzner said.

“If we compete, you never know what can happen.”
