A 1700-HOME development at Gawler Belt will form part of a shift into the South Australian residential development market for Villawood Properties.

The Victorian-based developer has announced plans for five South Australian projects that will deliver more than 5000 homes over the coming decade.

The Villawood SA portfolio includes a 1700-home development at Gawler Belt, which forms part of the Roseworthy township expansion project.

As previously reported in The Bunyip, the land is owned by the Virgara family and is bounded by Horrocks Highway, Kangaroo Flat, Edward and Twartz roads.

Villawood has also announced a 700-lot project at Andrews Farm, to be called St Andrews, and which will be its first project to launch in November.

Meanwhile, up to 1500 homes will be delivered as part of a new master-planned community at Oakden.

The joint project with Renewal SA will see up to 1500 dwellings delivered on a 52-hectare infill site. Other projects are at Seacliff and Golden Grove.

Chief executive Alan Miller said Villawood Properties would be a unique player in the South Australia market, bringing with it a wealth of knowledge and expertise in building strong community-focused residential housing.

“This will set a new benchmark for Adelaide and South Australia,” Mr Miller said.

“Our local knowledge plus Villawood’s 30-plus years of experience, its innovation and creativity, and its deliberate focus on constantly setting new standards will shake up the market.

“We are really looking to up the ante and home-buyers will be the beneficiaries.”

Villawood’s South Australia general manager Stuart Headland said each of the five projects presented attractive market opportunities.

“St Andrews, at Andrews Farm, 27 kilometres north of Adelaide via the Northern Expressway, will launch in November offering new-level quality and affordability opportunities in the area,” he said.

“The Gawler Belt site is 41 kilometres north of Adelaide, via the Northern Expressway.

“The site is well connected to existing services and emerging communities north of Gawler.”

Villawood has completed 65 projects since emerging as a small syndicate in Bendigo in 1989.

The developer is broadening its national portfolio of metropolitan, regional and country projects to now include Adelaide, Melbourne, regional Victoria, Sydney, the Gold Coast and Far North Queensland.

It has 30 projects in progress and another 20 in the pipeline.
