Best-dressed Tanunda talk of the towns

TANUNDA Business Group was awarded last Tuesday’s Santos Best-dressed Town title for Ziptrak Stage One of the Tour Down Under, with judges blown away by the electric atmosphere on display throughout the township.
The Santos Tour Down Under raced through the Barossa on a 30km circuit and properties decorated the route.
Santos Best Dressed Town judges were looking for excitement, festivity, town pride and Santos signage to determine the winners.
“We all agreed that this small town went above and beyond in achieving the criteria, adorning the town with Santos signage as locals celebrated their time in the spotlight as part of the Santos Tour Down Under,” the judges said.
The judges mentioned the vibrant nature of Tanunda which was brimming with anticipation and excitement, as well as noting the great sense of community involvement and support which brought an abundance of energy to all those who came to visit.
In the Santos Best Dressed Commercial or Community Property category, the judges awarded the Tanunda Bakery & Café as the winner for its colourful and tasteful decorations, which included many homemade Santos signs and large metallic letters.
“The theme of cycling in Australia could not be missed through this expansive, playful and humorous display which showed off the best of Tanunda and our great country,” said the judges.
“It is more than just a bike race, it is an 11-day festival of cycling.”
Held each year in January during the Santos Tour Down Under, the Best Dressed Town is open to all towns, schools, businesses and households along the race route.
