Centrals bow out for 2019

CENTRAL District’s 2019 season is over after it was dumped out of the finals by Woodville-West Torrens by seven points at City Mazda Stadium on Saturday.

The Dogs started the day perfectly as Damon Robinson converted in the opening 30 seconds.

Nick Lange doubled the efforts to set up a two-goal buffer for Central just moments later.

However, the Eagles’ Harrison Morgan found the big sticks with two majors to get his side back into the contest.

Robinson kicked a further major for the Dogs and they led by five points at the first change.

The tide turned after quarter-time as the Eagles dominated.

Despite Lange kicking the first goal of the term, the Eagles peppered the goals.

Lachlan McNeil and Jamie Coff both kicked goals, but their side also wasted chances with five behinds.

The Eagles led by only a goal at half-time, but were in control of the game.

The third stanza started in similar fashion to the second, with Lange sealing his third to get Central within a point.

Ethan Miller then steadied the ship for the Eagles and Harrison Morgan closed out the quarter with another major to ensure his side led by two goals at three-quarter-time.

The Eagles were dominant in the final quarter, but failed to kick a goal, instead registering seven consecutive behinds.

Oliver Shaw and Murray Stephenson kicked two late goals for the Dogs, but it wasn’t enough.

Isaya McKenzie had 28 touches, Stephenson had 22 on top of his goal and Jordan O’Brien had 21 disposals and seven tackles.
