FORMER Gawler Central
junior and Central
District forward Chloe
Scheer will
join Geelong for the
2022 AFLW season after
requesting a trade from
the Adelaide Crows.
Scheer was offered a
contract from the Cats that
Adelaide’s head of women’s
football Phil Harper
said the club was not willing
to match.
“Chloe is an extremely
talented player, and we
didn’t want to lose her,”
he said.
“However, she was presented
with a compelling
offer by the Cats and we
had to consider the broader
implications of matching
such a deal.
“It would have forced
us to move on one of the
players who finished high
up in our club champion
voting, and we weren’t
prepared to do that.
“We wish Chloe well
with the next phase of her
football career.”
Geelong finished second-
last on the AFLW ladder
in 2021, winning once
in the nine-game season.
