THE SANFL has added “stage five” to its return-to-play roadmap that would see a full return to competition with spectators, and despite it currently having an unspecified date, the league said in its statement that it is “fully confident that we are moving in a positive direction for this to occur.”
The new addition comes as a number of football and netball clubs throughout the state have pulled the plug on any potential 2020 season, citing uncertainty regarding fan attendance amongst other health-related issues and the demand on volunteers.
SANFL’s head of community football Tom Hurley advised clubs last week to delay making any announcements regarding the 2020 season until after the June 9 meeting with league presidents, at which time it is expected to give its verdict on the allowance of crowds.
