Match hangs in the balance

SANDY Creek will be hopeful heading into day two of its Barossa & Light A1 cricket match against Tanunda this Saturday, despite trailing by 88 runs with only four wickets in hand.
The Cockies won the toss and elected to bowl, and Magpie openers Chris Gattermayr and Coby Cornish put together a 57-run opening partnership.
However, things quickly turned sour for Tanunda, as it lost star duo Sam Colquhoun (three) and Trent Goers (two) not long after to be languishing at 4/67.
Jon Justin (25), Nic Burton (14) and Dylan Abinett (12) helped steady the ship somewhat, but the Pies were still all out for only 140.
Jamie Diener did the majority of the damage, taking 3/30.
The Cockies are in trouble at 6/52 at stumps, but still have Rhys Handtke (nine) and Will O’Brien (three) at the crease with Stephen Hands still to come in.
Colquhoun is performing better with the ball and has taken 4/11.

Blues bully Bulls

Angaston has its sights set on an outright victory after it ripped through Gilbert Valley’s batting order in just 22 overs.
The Bulls won the toss and elected to bat, and were subsequently torn apart by the Blues’ bowlers and were all out for just 22.
James Vandeleur (seven) and Matt Norman (six) were the two top-scorers, while Brett Woodards (4/9) and Jayden Antonie (3/1) did the damage.
Brett Burgess and Ben Antonie took the remaining three wickets between them.
The Blues batted for just seven overs, with Greg Bain (12 not out) and Jack Miles (10 not out) before declaring at 0/23.
The Bulls are 7/103 in their second knock, with Isaac Condon (35) and Caleb Schwartz (nine) set to resume on Saturday.

Tigers well-placed

Nuriootpa is confident of claiming its first win since returning to the A1 competition after day one of action against Freeling.
The Water Hens won the toss and elected to bowl, and Luke Steinborner (23) and Jake Heinze (22) put together an opening partnership of 43.
However, it was the work of Travis Jungfer (67) and Daniel Moore (54) that set up the innings, as they put together a 107-run partnership to have their side at 4/171.
Despite that, the tail end struggled, and the Tigers were all out for 209.
Brian Montgomery and Michael Chesson took three wickets each.
The Water Hens batted for one over, and have already lost Tom Carmichael to be 1/0 at stumps.

Golder saves the day

A stellar knock from Dave Golder has given South Gawler a big chance of victory against Mallala following day one action on the weekend.
The Magpies won the toss and elected to bowl, and the reigning premiers started well with Brodie Barker (58) and Chris Graser (16) doing some damage early.
Rob McCard (35) and Wes Andrews (31) were also serviceable, but the Lions’ middle order fell to pieces.
Nathan Fenwick (six) and Matt Knight (duck) added little to the total, but it was all about Golder, who patiently made his way to an unbeaten 40 before Jordan Dare was bowled out, and the Lions were all out for 216.
Brad Wilson took 4/43 for the Pies.
