Pawfect place for pooches

WILLIAMSTOWN locals and their four-legged friends are celebrating the completion of a dog park.
The Williamstown Dog Park was opened this month at Queen Victoria Jubilee Park and features a fully fenced area with two safety entrance and exit gates, dog bag dispensers, bin and water fountain.
Member for Schubert Stephan Knoll said the park, along with the Nuriootpa dog park opened last year, delivers on an election promise.
“None of this would have been possible without the strong support of the Barossa’s dog loving community, who have persisted over several years to have their voices heard,” he said.
“That support helped me to secure $100,000 from the Marshall Liberal Government ahead of the last state election to make the two parks at Williamstown and Nuriootpa a reality.
“Thanks must go to the Friends of Barossa Dog Parks for rallying behind this fantastic cause, to The Barossa Council for listening to its community and coming on board to develop these parks, and to the councillors who pushed to ensure we made use of the maximum capacity available at both locations.”
Barossa Council Mayor Bim Lange said he welcomed the completion of the project, which commenced in 2018.
“It’s wonderful that we have now opened dog parks in the north and south of the Barossa, giving more people more opportunities to be actively engaged in recreation and socialisation with fellow dog lovers,” he said.
“Both parks are located in a beautiful natural setting and deliver on the features that were priorities by the community during consultation.”
