Wellbeing Hub a northern first

PLAYFORD Council has officially unveiled the Playford Wellbeing Hub, which is a first for the northern suburbs.

Wellbeing SA chief executive Lyn Dean and Health Minister Stephen Wade MLC were both in attendance for the official opening.

Playford Mayor Glenn Docherty said he and the council were proud to open the Hub.

“We are proud to be home to northern Adelaide’s first Wellbeing Hub and the partnership formed between us as a council, Wellbeing SA, Office for Recreation, Sport and Racing, Department of Human Services and other state government agencies,” Mr Docherty said.

“The Playford Wellbeing Hub delivers a range of programs and services to support community physical, social and mental health and wellbeing across its two sites - the John McVeity Centre
and the Precinct on Coventry Road.

“The initiatives at the Hub include a focus on supporting young people, families and older residents to stay socially connected and active, with a focus on wellbeing through food, physical
activity and other health and wellbeing supports.”

Mr Docherty said the hub was “just one of the many ways council is supporting our community to be more physically active and socially active”.

“Other initiatives include sport and recreation facilities, recreation centres, community garden, cycling and walking activities, to build stronger connected communities,” he said.
