1 min read

JOCKEY Teagan Voorham celebrated her first win since arriving in South Australia from Tasmania as she rode Magic Phantom to victory in race four at the Gawler & Barossa Jockey Club on Saturday.

The 23-year-old first rode in SA at Gawler in late June, with her last win coming in Devonport on June 9.

It was Magic Phantom’s second career win, with the first coming only a month ago at Morphettville.

Earlier in the day in race one, Eric Musgrove’s Lucques won by just over one length from Patrick Payne’s Sweet Lullaby and Barry Brook’s Searaven.

It was the seven-year-old’s first win since it won at Pakenham Park back in April – the last of three consecutive wins.

In race two, Amy McDonald’s Felix Bay beat out Kathryn Durden’s Comics by just under two lengths, with Jarrod McLean’s Jumbo Prince finishing third.

It was the nine-year-old gelding’s first win since it was successful at Morphettville a year ago.

Richard Jolly’s Kemalpasa took out race three, which was run over 1100m.

The three-year-old gelding beat out Grant Young’s Exalted Maxine by just over two lengths, with Ryan Balfour’s Wanaasa placing third.

It was Kemalpasa’s first victory since it was successful at Morphettville on Australia Day.

In race five over 2100m, Kylie McKerlie’s $11 outsider Dance of Heroes triumphed over Ryan Balfour’s Aagas and Patrick Payne’s Eckhart.

It was the eight-year-old gelding’s first win since the Hawker Cup back in May.

In race six over the 1500m journey, Gordon Richards’ Charossa easily accounted for Sue Nolan’s Double Pockets and Ryan Balfour’s Canford.

Then, John Hickmott celebrated as his five-year-old rig Arrow Lane won in race seven, over 1200m.

It beat out Will Clarken’s Columbia and Tatoosh by two lengths.

It was Arrow Lane’s first win since November, where it was successful at Morphettville.

In the final race of the day, Ken Sweeney’s $11 outsider Anamnesis overcame David Jolly’s Bolt I am and Craig Curtis’ Mum’s My Hero by two lengths.

The five-year-old gelding last won in Gawler in December.
