Tiger Thomas plays game 150
1 min read

GAWLER Central veteran Casey Thomas celebrated his 150th senior game with the club on Saturday, but not with a win – as his A-grade side was defeated by rival South Gawler.

The 34-year-old utility has been mainstay for the Tigers since joining the club a decade ago, and was a pivotal part of the 2014 premiership.

Thomas said he’s been eyeing the milestone for some time.

“It’s been a long time coming,” he said.

“It’s a feat I’ve been looking at for a while.

“The club has supported me well, and helped me play the 150 in 10 years.”

Thomas spoke highly of the Tigers, a club where his kids now play.

“It’s been great, it’s been a family friendly club there and they’ve always welcomed myself and my family there,” he said.

“They’ve always welcomed the kids in there as well.”

Thomas has played in many grand finals for the Tigers, but said the highlight was the winning one against South Gawler in 2014.

“How we played, it was a good game of footy, it all came together,” he said.

“They’re the memories you cherish with the guys you play with.”

However, the veteran said he was uncertain whether he’ll continue on playing next year, with it still being too early to tell.

“Who knows yet, it depends on how the body goes,” he said.

Thomas’ Tigers face last year’s grand finalist Tanunda this week in the hope of getting their season back on track.
